How much longer will the earth be able to sustain us?
We are consuming its' resources at an alarming rate and even more frightening is the rate at which freshwater resources are being depleted. At current rates the glaciers in the Himalayas, which supply water to about 1/3 of the worlds population, will be gone by 2050.
Sadly I agree with you, and the masses are more concerned about daily life. But the question needs to be how long can it sustain us at this population, and with this level of excessive overuse.
No doubt, our culture, as all in history will crash. Depopulation will occur at some point, due to any number of forces, or all. Economic crash, loss of water, depletion of energy reserves, shifting of farm lands, severe climate change, all or any will be accompanied by social unrest.
Many experts predict severe change in 10-40 years, but humans will endure for much longer. Possibly with a different existence.
Not trying to be negative, but humans have shown little ability to regulate their behavior. Like Easter Island on a big scale.
